Similarities with Ezekiel's 38 chapter
19In my zeal and fiery
wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel . Ezekiel 38:19
Then
there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe
earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on
earth, so tremendous was the quake revelation 16:18

"I
will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down
torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on
the many nations with him". Ezekiel 38:22
"The
great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God
remembered Babylon
the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20Every island fled away
and the mountains could not be found. 21From the sky huge
hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on
account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible".

All these events take place in the latter days:
"After
many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land
that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many
nations to the mountains of Israel
which had been a continual waste; but its people were brought out from the
nations, and they are living securely, all of them".
Ezekiel 38:8

The 9th chapter of revelation is the preparation of
chapter 16 of revelation, where the armies of the world are summoned to kill
the 1/3 of the people of the world. Rev 9:15-17
The number of the troops and their effects on the
people are indications that this event takes place in the latter days in our
era and time. (See also my previous article about chapter 9:16 of the
apocalypse).
The weapons in chapter 9 of the apocalypse throw fire
smoke and sulfur (could also be nuclear weapons) but haven't been used yet up
until chapter 16 where the aftermath of their utilization is described:
"Then
the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, and a loud voice
came out of the temple from the throne, saying, “It is done.” 18And there were flashes
of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake,
such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an
earthquake was it, and so mighty. 19The great city was
split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered before God,
to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath. 20And every island fled
away, and the mountains were not found. 21And huge hailstones,
about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men
blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was
extremely severe." Rev 16:17-21

Similar plagues are also described by Ezekiel in 38:
19-22:
"In
My zeal and in My blazing wrath I declare that on that day there will
surely be a great earthquake in the land
of Israel . 20“The fish of the sea, the
birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that
creep on the earth, and all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake
at My presence; the mountains also will be thrown down, the steep pathways will
collapse and every wall will fall to the ground. 21“I will call for a sword
against him on all My mountains,” declares the Lord GOD. “Every man’s sword
will be against his brother. 22“With
pestilence and with blood I will enter into judgment with him; and I will rain
on him and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a
torrential rain, with hailstones, fire and brimstone"

In chapter 9 St . John gives us the cause or the beginnings
of the confortation which is the loosening of the four angels by the Euphrates River . Revelation 9:14
In chapter 16 St . John gives us the sign of the beginning
of the end, rev 16:12
12The sixth angel poured
out his bowl on the great river Euphrates , and
its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.
So the drying up of the river Euphrates
is our last chance to repent before the WW3 which is going to be a nuclear one.
To stress this point God through St.
John's voice uses a spectacular metaphor which is
famously used in the east Christian world when priests want to urge people to
always be prepared for delivering their souls to God because the end of
someone's life is unpredictable.
Thus after the drying up of Euphrates
the end will be even more sudden and unpredictable than ever.
Here it is then
15“Behold, I am coming
like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that
he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”
rev 16:15
THE HOLY
BIBLE, NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION
Behold, I
am coming like a thief... is the warning
priests give to stress the need to be always prepared for death and judgement.
At this verse God gives a clear message to all the
people of the planet: In our opinion the message is this: After the river
Euphrates had been dried up don't try to run don't try to hide or even try to
save food and seeds, because death is imminent, and you are about to meet the
maker. Repent for your sins and ask for forgiveness, turn yourself to Jesus
hold on to the Christian virtues (clothes) and avoid mortal sins. The clothes can
also be interpreted as the soul
of each man
